Some recalled lettuce not found, but no illnesses reported

The Food and Drug Administration says a California company's voluntary recall of some lettuce does not appear connected to the recent contaminated spinach outbreak. Doctor David Acheson, of the FDA's Center for Food Safety, says the Nunes Company found E-coli in irrigation water used on one farm and immediately issued the recall. Tests will determine whether it's the kind of E. coli that sickens people. Acheson emphasized there's no evidence the lettuce itself was contaminated and no illnesses have been reported. - Full Story
