Republican Sali Defeats Democrat Grant In Idaho's 1st Congressional Race

Republican Bill Sali edged Democrat Larry Grant early this morning to win the open seat in Idaho's 1st Congressional District. After a glitch in counting ballots delayed final results from Ada County until 4 a.m., Sali, an eight-term state lawmaker, leads Grant, 50 percent to 45 percent. With 99 percent of the precincts reporting, Sali topped Grant by more than 10,000 votes. He toasted champagne just after 4 a-m.
