Idaho's new chief executive calls for smaller government

Idaho's 32nd governor was publicly inaugurated on a cold, clear Friday afternoon, and he promised he would make sure "your government becomes what it was meant to be — the people's servant." About 1,500 people gathered around the Statehouse steps to watch Butch Otter and the slate of Republican state officials swear their public oaths Friday. Long a Republican with libertarian leanings, Otter said he would move the ideas of "efficiency, customer service and cost savings" into state government. "For years now, I have been talking about personal responsibility and accountability, both in our private lives and in the halls of government," Otter said. "Those are important principles here in Idaho, and they will form the basis of this administration." - Full Story
