Idaho businesses will push for personal property tax cutThursday, January 11, 2007; IDSTIdaho businesses want another property tax break this winter. They hope lawmakers will be swayed by a study showing that most of the savings could end up in the pockets of Idaho workers. In addition to regular property taxes, Idaho companies pay taxes on "personal property" all computers, desks and other equipment they use in the course of business. In 2006, the tax brought about $115 million to Idaho's cities and counties more than 10 percent of all property taxes. The Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry has wanted to eliminate the tax for years, but this winter the request is rising to the top of that powerful business lobby's agenda, said the group's new president, Alex LaBeau. - Full Story |
