16 rural areas get economic development grantsTuesday, June 19, 2007; IDSTSixteen rural areas in Idaho will share $500,000 a year to support full-time economic development professionals, the Idaho Commerce and Labor announced Monday. The 16 rural areas will receive the financial support from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2010. The Economic Development Professionals Program began in 2001 under the Idaho Rural Initiative. Under the program, the state contributes to the salary of economic development experts serving rural communities under 10,000 working in partnership with local boards of directors and other groups to bring new jobs and investment to rural Idaho. Communities receiving assistance include,: Shoshone County, $41,500; Benewah County, $35,000; Custer County, $25,000; Rural Magic Valley, $41,500; Clark County, $24,000; Lemhi County, $30,000; Clearwater County, $41,500; Butte County, $10,500; Power County, $30,000; Boundary County, $35,000; Bingham County, $10,500; Fremont County, $30,000; Idaho and Lewis counties, $41,500; rural Canyon and Owyhee counties, $32,500; Adams, Boise, Gem, Valley counties, $30,000; Caribou, Franklin, Oneida and Bear Lake counties, $41,500. - Full Story |
