New Sandpoint restaurant hiring 30 to 45 people

Wednesday, July 18, 2007; DB

SANDPOINT -- The city's newest full-service restaurant and sports bar continues to hire employees as it prepares for an early August opening. The 5,000-square-foot space for Craggy Range Bar & Grill in the Old Power House Building also continues to undergo an extensive renovation. "It was completely gutted," said Doug McNicoll, president and chief operating officer for Glacier Restaurant Group in Whitefish, Mont. "People aren't going to recognize it. It's going to be brand-spanking new. Every plate, every piece of gear and every martini glass." Craggy Range Bar & Grill will open at the former location of The Power House Grill, which owners Mark and Sara Clarkson closed on April 9 after more than 9 years in the building. The Clarksons did not want to sign another 10-year lease with Waterfront Property Management. The couple hopes to buy property in Bonner County so they can reopen a restaurant that's smaller than their 200- to 250-seat Power House Grill. Craggy Bar & Grill continues to take applications for hiring 30 to 45 employees. Most jobs will be full-time positions. "We have pretty high standards," McNicoll said. "Sandpoint is a tight labor market. There's no doubt about it with a two to three percent unemployment rate." "We've set up a bunch of interviews," he continued. "Some are coming out of the woodwork, looking to get back into work." The restaurant is hiring line cooks, servers, hostesses, bartenders and managers. Glacier Restaurant Group offers managers benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance. "If a girl or guy works hard, they can make really good money," McNicoll said. Anyone interested in applying for a job should call Brad Townsend at 406-270-7202. Craggy Range Bar & Grill will offer at least four cuts of fish, five cuts of meat, prime rib and appetizers. - Full Story
